If you love the outdoors; if you’ve always wanted to be self-sufficient and able to go into the wilderness with nothing but a positive mental attitude and be able to survive with what the Earth provides—indefinitely–then these workshops are what you’re looking for! Great for building self-confidence and team dynamics! Workshops are available locally for a group minimum of four to a maximum of twelve attendants. Lost-proofingIntensive: $40/family. This workshop is intended for parents to attend with their children. We will cover P.H.I.N.D. kits, profiles, natural shelters and basic shelter-building, safe water collection, available food sources, and many other topics based upon what to do and what not to do in an emergency situation. Approximately 3 hours. *Fire by Friction: $35 per person. Learn fire-by-friction, philosophy, and other primitive fire-making techniques. Approximately 3 hours. Approximately 3 hours.
Food/Water: $30/person. Learn techniques for water gathering for survival, primitive trapping techniques, and food preparation methods. Approximately 4 hours.
*Utilitarian I: $50/person. Learn how to make glue, cordage, eating utensils, grass/cattail mats, baskets, and backrests. Approximately 4 hours. *Utilitarian II: $50/person. Survival gear workshop. Learn to create miscellaneous equipment for extended survival outings and comfort. Approximately 4 hours. *Hide Tanning: $75/person. Learn to properly skin an animal, clean, soften, and tan the hide—primitive style. You’ll need a lot of brains for this one! Two day workshop. Basic Tracking/ Awareness: $75/person. Only for those who have taken all previous workshops. Learn track identification, basic interpretation, animal signs, stalking, philosophy, and basic hunting skills. Approximately 4+ hours. Call for supplies/equipment required. All workshops guided by Jeff Rychwa, Expert Forensic Tracker and Primitive Skills and Martial Arts instructor with twenty years of experience. Workshops may run from two to four hours, or more. Attendants should bring snacks, if desired, water, and Oyasin—a strong desire to learn—and to teach. *Non-folding, sharp knife required. Registration fees are required one week before day of workshop.
